A Beautiful Ballet…

There are many areas in the UK that are amazing environments for wildlife. Some I have visited and lots more I’d love to visit. If only there were enough years in a lifetime!  However, my first love and, somehow, my ‘home’ even when I didn’t live here, has always been the Norfolk Broads.  When I had the opportunity to move away from the London suburbs to the countryside, Norfolk was an easy first choice.

And so here I find myself, in this marvellous moment, which perfectly highlights what is so special about the Broads, especially if you’re lucky enough to have access to a boat. After all, where else could you arrive in such a stunning location, and simply remain, in comfort, all evening and into the night to finally just turn in and go to bed, in exactly the same spot? Then awake in the first rays of a rising sun with a panoramic view of the majestic river, where two swans will perform a most graceful dance.

Mine are the only eyes gazing upon this beautiful ballet, but I do not feel as if I am intruding, but rather incredibly lucky to bear witness. as the lifetime of commitment between these two astonishing creatures brings them as close together as any two souls can be…

  1. So glad I found this.
I to am originally from London. From my first visit to the Broads I take every opportunity to come back there is nothing to compare to the wonderful sound of being woken by the sound of birds and water against your boat.

    • Hi Gill,
Thanks for leaving a comment. I absolutely agree – being gently woken to the sound of water lapping on the boat, surrounded by wildlife and nature is the perfect antidote to the rat race.
